About

Joules was born in April 1982 in a small city in the heart of the Black Forest in southern Germany. Early on he inherited a Voigtländer Vito BL stills camera from his father, starting off what should become more than a hobby. As children, alongside his brother Steffen, both of them used their imagination and visual creativity to develop various formats in their future professions in the field.

After finishing school with Abitur in 2001, Joules started at a local production company as general technical assistant for various ENG-style shoots. In 2003 he started a 18 month trainee-ship at FGV Schmidle in Munich, to define his passion for camera work even more.

After several years as clapper/loader and 2nd AC, he assisted many well known DP`’s as Focus Puller and 1st AC. Following a government job in Abu Dhabi, Joules worked as a Camera Operator, specializing in Car-2-Car, Russian Arm, Gimbals and other operating work, gaining trust as DoP and Cinematographer for lifestyle, cars and food.

With the birth of his two daughters, Joules now has base in Ingolstadt, Germany, and works worldwide – always with a special connection to the Gulf Region and the UAE.
